Staff Profile
Being concerned with music and musical sound as being helpful to human lives, also thought of what could be the harmful aspect of the various sounds we hear especially, at motor garages and markets’ environment alike. I have also worked on the phenomenon spurned by the idea of how sociological factors/problems in sound hearing and perception could be resolved in order to help the societal sound production and health related problems. My experience over the years as a music director and sound analyst has assisted me to evaluate African cultural mentality of loud sound which has been arrogated to power in the transportation and marketing systems where loud sound is regarded as a way of life, authority and domination of space. This is premised on the fact that ‘the louder your sounds, the better people around you give you the required attention. All these are done with proper consideration for acoustics treatment of the open sound producing environment and the capacity of sound such environment, this practice leads to a ‘war of sound’ within the motor garages and market places and put everybody at a very high health risk. My work plan for the future is propagate, through academic papers, training and workshops the ‘State of the Arts’ conditions for the eradication of noise pollution in our environment with special emphasis on motor garages and other related public places in southwestern and north central Nigeria.
