Staff Profile
In 2019, I became the first female Ph.D. holder in Music at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. I conducted the University Orchestral Band at seven (7) Induction Ceremonies of the Faculty of Pharmacy and College of Health Sciences between 2012 and 2015, and became the first and only female till date to carry out such responsibility at O.A.U. I am the composer of the renowned Lead British International School (LBIS) Anthem which is being performed in all three-state-branches (FCT-Abuja, Ibadan and Osogbo) with a Certificate of Attestation in 2010. In 2004, I was awarded the Profesor Michael Crowder Prize for the Best Graduating Student with a Grade Point Average (GPA of not less than 3.50) in Any of The Three Creative Arts Departments in O.A.U. I served as Vice-President for the Music Students Association of Nigeria (MUSAN), OAU Chapter, from 2001-2002. I introduced/pioneered Music as a subject in three International Schools in Nigeria, namely: 1. Lead British International School, Gwarinpa, FCT-Abuja – 2008. 2. Ladela Day Secondary School, Area 11, Garki, Abuja – 2004 3. Tom-Caleb International School, Ilupeju, Lagos. – 1996. In addition, I integrated the Music Curriculum for LBIS from British and Nigerian Curricula. My research activities overtime have contributed to knowledge through focus on Nigerian Music Compositions with respect to Art Music Composers and Traditional Music Composers, some of which include, the works of the first Professor of Music in Nigeria – Laz Ekwueme, and Hubert Ogunde who is regarded as the founder of Nigerian folk opera and theatre.
